Recommended by Charlaine Harris, author of the series that inspired HBO's hit series TRUE BLOOD, this new #1 Bestselling series will take readers by storm! They may have stolen my past, but I'll never let them take my future. When the walls between Man and Fae come crashing down, freeing the insatiable, immortal Unseelie from their icy prison, MacKayla Lane is caught in a deadly trap. Captured by the Fae Lord Master, she is left with no memory of who or what she is. Clawing her way back from oblivion is only the first step Mac must take down a perilous path, from the battle-filled streets of Dublin to the treacherous politics of an ancient, secret sect, through the tangled lies of men who claim to be her allies into the illusory world of the Fae themselves, where nothing is as it seems - and Mac is forced to face a soul-shattering truth.

MacKayla Lane lies naked on the cold stone floor of a church, at the mercy of the erotic Fae master she once swore to kill. Far from home, unable to control her sexual hungers, MacKayla is now fully under the Lord Master’s spell.…In New York Times bestselling author Karen Marie Moning’s stunning new novel, the walls between human and Fae worlds have come crashing down. And as Mac fights for survival on Dublin’s battle-scarred streets, she will embark on the darkest—and most erotically charged—adventure of her life.He has stolen her past, but MacKayla will never allow her sister’s murderer to take her future. Yet even the uniquely gifted sidhe-seer is no match for the Lord Master, who has unleashed an insatiable sexual craving that consumes Mac’s every thought—and thrusts her into the seductive realm of two very dangerous men, both of whom she desires but dares not trust.
As the enigmatic Jericho Barrons and the sensual Fae prince V’lane vie for her body and soul, as cryptic entries from her sister’s diary mysteriously appear and the power of the Dark Book weaves its annihilating path through the city, Mac’s greatest enemy delivers a final challenge.…
It’s an invitation Mac cannot refuse, one that sends her racing home to Georgia, where an even darker threat awaits. With her parents missing and the lives of her loved ones under siege, Mac is about to come face-to-face with a soul-shattering truth—about herself and her sister, about Jericho Barrons…and about the world she thought she knew.
They can’t break me. I won’t cease. I’m strong. And I am never going to go away until I’ve gotten what I came for. I might have been lost for a while, but I was never gone. […] I am Mac. And I’m back.
Karen Marie Moning continues to pull me deeper and farther into her world of mystical and dark art that encompasses the Fever Series with Dreamfever. I have shifted my TBR shelf again, because I MUST jump right into the next book in the series after this cliffhanger ending. What a cliffhanger!!! I don’t even want to take the time to write this review, because I want to just dive right into Shadowfever!

The entire series loses no time between books, as the author picks up exactly where the previous installment leaves us….after a chilling cliffhanger. I’m always amazed at Karen Marie Moning’s ability to build such an extraordinarily gripping plot book after book without revealing any answers and continuing such a magical journey for MacKayla Lane. The first 15% to 20% of this installment had to have been written for all fans of Jericho Barrons. It. Was. STEAMING.
If I knew Jericho Barrons, he was walking around feeling like his dick was the most huge, magnificent, perfect, important creation under the sun.
It is clear in this installment that Barrons has feelings for Mac…or he’s just torturing her. He comes to her rescue time and time again through various means, and the pissing contest between he and V’lane was perfect. I feel as if a carrot has been dangled in front of me with these two and their relationship to Mac, but each time I go to bite…the carrot moves farther away.
“…Go ahead, Barrons, make me slice and dice myself. Go ahead, play games with me. Push me around. Lie to me. Bully me. Be your usual constant jackass self. Stalk around all broody and pissy and secretive, but you’re wrong about me. There’s something inside me you’d better be afraid of. And you can’t touch my soul. You will never touch my soul!”
I wasn’t a fan of Dani in the previous installments when she was first introduced, but this young teen has grown on me. Her loyalty to Mac and her typical teen responses to her attempt at being “grown up” are endearing. I actually giggled several times at Dani’s references to whom she will lose her virginity. While she is comical and amazing in her gifts, she is also a very troubled teen, having experienced so much death and loss at such a young age. She is the main character in Iced, and given the synopsis of Iced, I’m eager to see where the next book takes me with Dani and Mac as a team.
It’s funny how, when things seem the darkest, moments of beauty present themselves in the most unexpected places.
So many answers are brought to light in this installment, but they also bring more questions with them. This series has taken me into its cosmos and engulfed me much like a virtual game would do….I’m transported. I’m seeing and feeling everything as Mac sees and feels it. The angst in the last 1/3 of the book had me gasping and reeling, and the cliffhanger ending has completely stopped my heart. My imagination is picturing all sorts of possibilities, hoping it isn’t what I think it is. Karen Marie Moning has tricked me before, and I can only pray that this is another trick.
Fire worlds? Water worlds? Cliffs? What crappy cosmic power was in charge of deciding where the stones sent me next?
The growth in Mac from book #1 to book #4 is amazing. The characters that are introduced and built in earlier installments by just a mention are finally met, many of whom are so mercurial, I don’t know whether to love them or hate them….or love to hate to love them. I certainly recommend this entire series as one that just gets better and better as the mystery and adventure continue to deepen.
